Gonzalo Luis (Balearic Soul): Releases on Defected (UK), Purple Music (Switzerland) Illegal Beats (UK), Stereo (Spain), Sound Division (Italy) Gonzalo Luis ‘Balearic Soul’ has been working professionally since 1995 (the year he won the D.M.C. Spanish National DJ Championship) developing his sessions, as resident in the best clubs on the Costa Blanca (Pacha, Penelope, Desafinado,Z Klub, Vissazzi...). and has been invited to play in clubs & festivals all across Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Ukrania, Dubai or Indonesia, and Ibiza’s best venues (Space Terrace, Pacha Main Room, Privilege, & El Divino for Jamie Lewis’ Purple Music Party) Gonzalo's style is house in all its genres. His technical, energetic sets are typically laced with his own reworks, bootlegs, edits, and live mash ups with accapellas. This incorporation of studio work into his club sets keeps his sound fresh and original while his heavy focus on building a strong relationship with the crowd ensures the dancefloor is always heaving. The distinctive sound created in his Balearic Soul productions has been highly recognised and supported by many of the scene’s top international players and the massive support has come, in greater part, thanks to the hugely successful remix of Moloko's ‘Forever More’.
After being one of the most listened to tracks at the WMC, the Balearic Soul remix was finally signed up to prestigous English label Defected and lead to a follow up release with the hit remix of Fish Go Deep's 'The Cure and the Cause'.(Also Released By legendary label Strictly Rhythm in Usa and nominated in the "best remix" category of the Deejay Mag Awards) For 2009 his has released two of the hottest tunes of the season: Balearic Soul – ‘Ole’, on Stereo Productions, played by all top djs & Balearic Soul Vs Riicky L -‘Babylonia, born again 09’on Purple Music, wich has reached Top 1 in Traxsource singles chart, with massive support & setting dancefloors on fire around the globe! But the success of Balearic Soul’s productions outside Spain has also been due to previous remixes for the London based label Jalapeno - Illegal Beats:‘Pass the Funk’ and ‘One Of These Days’ and for Dj Chus "That feeling" vocal rework on Stereo recordings.(reached #1 in WDM´s Top 20 Spain)
